Ward Family Foundation Scholarship Program
The Julia Greeley Home is honored to be selected by the Ward Family Foundation of Alexandria Va., to be part of its education scholarship program. This means that a qualified resident of Julia’s may receive a one-year scholarship to begin or continue her education at college or university in Colorado.
This generous award program from the Ward Family Foundation is in harmony with Julia’s mission to help motivated women recover from homelessness and go on to build new lives of purpose and self sufficiency. There is no better exit from dependency than education.
The mission of the Ward Family Foundation is innovative. It was founded to help charities establish themselves using a "best practices" approach, which means being able to measure one's effectiveness with concrete benchmarks and proven methods which show results. The foundation was established by businessman John L. Ward, who wanted to extend his proven, verifiable and measurable business practices to nonprofit organizations, to bring them to their highest level of performance.
The high standards of the Ward Family Foundation make us at the Julia Greeley Home all the more proud to be invited into their scholarship program. Since 2002, according to the foundation, sixteen residents have been able to use the scholarship funds at a local community college. Courses included accounting, business, art, chemistry, English and computer training. The foundation reports that many of the students excelled and eventually found good jobs with strong career potential.
We look forward to presenting a qualified Julia Greeley candidate to the Ward Family Foundation for acceptance into its scholarship program. There is no better predictor of future success and a life of self sufficiency than to earn a good education!
